Fabric, figures and live music: life drawing at Create Festival 2026
Ten local artists joined us at Form&Thought for a special life drawing session as part of Create Festival, with our lovely model Hannah and live acoustic guitar from Nick Eve.
We took a slightly unconventional approach to the evening. Hannah generously let us drape her in voluminous, semi-transparent fabric, adding another layer to the drawing. The folds offered their own shapes and shadows, while glimpses of the figure beneath gave us plenty to explore.

Across four poses, there was an opportunity to consider the relationship between body and cloth: where the fabric followed Hannah’s form, where it gathered, and where it fell away. It brought a different challenge to our usual life drawing session, with as much attention to the drapery as to the figure itself. Nick’s live guitar accompanied the drawing throughout the evening, making music part of the experience of looking and making. With Nosecco to enjoy and ten local artists drawing together, it was a lovely way to bring a little of the festival into the studio.

A big thank you to Hannah for embracing our fabric experiment, to Nick for the music, and to everyone who joined us with their sketchbooks. An evening of four poses, flowing fabric and a shared love of making.
Throwley “Stories from the hand” exhibition – 2025
We held an art exhibition, cyanotype workshop and live painting demonstration in July 2025. An evening reception on the Friday welcomed art lovers to the town of Throwley under the warm light filtered through the stained glass windows. Attendees of the workshop described it as excellent. We welcomed Mary Sampson as a guest artist.

Appledore Art Fair – 2025
Applefore welcomed us to their village hall for our first event of the summer. Jayne Simmonds’ cyanotypes moved hypnotically, S J Rivers’ paintings resulted in deep contemplation. Jugs and Vases by Simon Guy brought admiration from new fans. Molly Newton introduced intricate knot work, which was complemented by Gregory Daines’ detailed papercuts. We welcomed Teetha as a guest artist for this event.
